Lifestyle Celebrates 30 Years of Making Customers Feel at Home

In 1989, Bill and Keith Carroll started selling windows out of a basement home office. Now, 30 years later, the Carroll brothers have become Ontario’s trusted home improvement duo.

“When Keith and I started out, we were called Carroll Home Improvements,” says Bill Carroll, co-owner of Lifestyle Home Products. “We were two guys with entrepreneurial spirit. We had knowledge in the home renovation area, and did all the installations ourselves.”

Operating as a family business, Bill and Keith divided up and tackled the other tasks, including bookkeeping, telemarketing, customer orders and delivery.

While visiting homeowners, they discovered a need for custom-built sunrooms within budget, with full glass wall systems suited the Canadian climate. In 1995, they purchased the Sunroom Division from North Star Manufacturing (London) Ltd. They formed Lifestyle Sunrooms Inc., focusing on the demand for quality and service at an effective price point. Over the next 20 years, Bill and Keith continued to expand their operations, outgrowing the space of three smaller factories in the Durham region.

In 2013, continued growth with the addition of exterior door, awning and metal roofing products, made it necessary to rename the company Lifestyle Home Products and relocate to a larger space. Today Lifestyle operates out of the former NHB factory in Peterborough, a 150,000-sq.-ft. facility on Crawford Drive.

Four months ago, Lifestyle introduced a new BathWraps® product. This new line gives homeowners the ability to have an old tub/shower removed and replaced with a new bathtub, walk-in shower or walk-in tub in as little as one day. The product is expected to do well in 2019 as Lifestyle marks its 30th anniversary.

“The past 30 years has really been about people,” says Keith Carroll. “We work hard. But we’ve been able to grow because our customers trust us to deliver – and our staff believe in what we do as a company.”

Lifestyle Launches BathWraps for Homeowners

Replacing Tubs and Showers in One Day

Since starting their company 29 years ago, Bill and Keith Carroll have visited thousands of homes. Today, the two brothers continue to address the requests of customers to help with other home improvement needs.

“Based on what our customers are telling us, we are proud to launch BathWraps®,” says Keith. “We can now transform an old bathtub and/or shower into a new maintenance-free, lifetime bath/shower area. And, we can typically install a full replacement acrylic shower or bath system in one day.”

Lifestyle Home Products has been training staff in this new product over the past year. Bath and shower orders are coming in from baby boomers who want to improve their existing home equity rather than move. Many homeowners who also select BathWraps are looking for solutions for safety and accessibility. As well as combined bath and shower systems, Lifestyle is able to install walk-in showers with a low 4” ledge or walk-in Jacuzzi® bathtubs.

What’s the advantage?

Remodelling sources say a bathroom renovation can cost as much as $30,000 and take up to four weeks. With BathWraps, Lifestyle can clean up the bathtub and shower area at a fraction of the cost with a one-two-installation. “We don’t cover up the old tub. We remove it and install a new system. This provides added peace of mind for customers,” says Keith.

What is the process?

1. Contact Lifestyle Home Products online or at 1-800-465-0593. to set up an appointment.
2. A factory-trained Lifestyle consultant will visit your home to asses your bathroom needs, do a proper drain test, and give you a written price before leaving your home.
3. Your consultant will work with you to select the best Lifestyle BathWraps system for your bathroom space, budget and needs.
4. Lifestyle will take care of installation from start to finish.

Thumbs Up on Proper Installation

When having renovation work done, why do we actually breathe a sigh of relief when the work starts on schedule? BUT what if the installation and the finished result far exceeds our expectations? What if it gets a big thumbs up?

The process of conducting effective installations has been key for Lifestyle Home Products. Brothers Bill and Keith Carroll had a business fitting and installing windows before they started their own manufacturing company 29 years ago. “We are a manufacturer who stands behind what we make. We stand behind what we install. We also factory train all of our installers,” says Keith. “The product needs to be a high quality offering, but proper installation is key.”

Lifestyle Home products installs lifetime sunrooms, windows and exterior doors, metal roofing shingles, awnings and porch enclosures. The company has also just launched its bath remodeling installation service with the proven BathWraps® product line.

Here are some of the aspects you can count on from start to finish with Lifestyle.

Green-Friendly Metal Roofing and Metal Roof Shingles

Written by Cottage Country Connection Magazine, April 21, 2018

When considering the best roofing choice for your home you need to take a few factors into consideration. Your roof should be able to withstand the Canadian climate (hot summers and blistering cold winters) and prevent small animals from entering your residence. Also, you need to find the best roofing quality for the best price.

The Advantages of Metal Roofs

Metal roof shingles and metal roofs are advantageous to asphalt roofs in several ways. Asphalt roofing is much more susceptible to severe weather conditions and is vulnerable to algae, mildew and moss, which shortens lifespan. Also, asphalt manufacturers dispose of millions of tons of asphalt every year, which raises serious questions about the impact on the environment.

More and more home, farm and cottage owners are making the move toenvironmentally-friendly green roofing products that are lifetime warrantied. Metal roofs have shown fantastic performance under extreme weather. They are lightweight and, as for their longevity, come with a 50-year warranty. If you are searching for a green roof solution, metal roofs are energy-efficient, often containing recycled content. It may cost you more, but a metal roof will last 3-4 times longer than an asphalt one, and be better for the environment.

Increased Home Value

There’s no need to worry about your roof’s aesthetic appeal since metal roof shingles (also known as metal roofing shingles or steel shingles) come in many colours. The exterior is what makes the first impact of your residence, farm or business. Since the value of the building is greatly increased, and with 50 years peace of mind on warranty – it’s a no brainer – metal roofing is the way to go. With the durability, longevity, and lightness of metal shingles, it’s not surprising that the popularity of metal roofs has risen.

Lifestyle Home Products started with installing asphalt roof shingles. Upon realizing that manufacturers often wouldn’t back their warranties, they switched to installing metal roof shingles, which proved to be a much better roofing solution. “Discovering true peace of mind greatly outweighs everything else. A Lifestyle metal roof has a lifetime warranty, which means that you won’t have to worry about your roof ever again,” says Bill Carroll, President of Lifestyle Home Products.

You can also visit their showroom in Ajax or Peterborough to see why Lifestyle Home Products is a respected supplier of outdoor awnings and metal roofing shingles. Lifestyle also manufactures exterior doors, windows and sunrooms.

The Best Performance in Vinyl Windows

Lifestyle Home Products manufactures superior CSA®-certified, Energy Star®-validated and harmonized-tested replacement windows. Based in Peterborough, the company manufactures vinyl replacement windows in myriad of shapes and styles. Here are the key components that have Lifestyle taking the lead:

1. Vinyl Frame

2. North American Made Roto™ Hardware
Lifestyle is committed to its guarantee as a company that does not use offshore parts. Roto hardware ensures a better window system that will last longer and ensure ease of operation. It adds to the aesthetic styling, quality performance, and optimal functionality of Lifestyle windows.

3. Exceptional Glass Package
Lifestyle offers three superior glass packages to suit individual needs. Lifestyle vinyl windows block up to 90% of harmful UV rays. They also guarantee R values of up to 10 – as good as some walls in your home.

A Lifetime Warranty and Peace of Mind
Lifestyle is so confident in its windows and installation experts that they guarantee that your window installation will last a lifetime. The economical price is the added benefit. Lifestyle eliminates the middleman price by manufacturing and selling its own premium vinyl replacement windows to you at factory prices. Taking Your Roof to the Next Level

What if you could replace your existing asphalt roof shingles with premium, metal roofing shingles without removing the old shingles that are there now? And, what if, by doing so, you could add to the value of your home or cottage with a roof that lasts a lifetime?

Before Lifestyle Home Products began installing steel roofing shingles, the company installed conventional asphalt shingles. With asphalt roof shingles, Lifestyle co-owner Keith Carroll found that manufacturers would find reasons not to back their warranties. In 2013, Lifestyle Home Products started installing quality metal roof shingles and provided a solid, 50-year warranty. They match the look of a traditional shingled roof, but are made of durable steel to withstand the elements of a Canadian climate.

The metal roofing shingles installed by Lifestyle Home Products are available in a wide variety of colours to complement any style of home or cottage. In addition, a Lifestyle metal roof will deter squirrels and other small animals from getting inside your house structure. There’s an interlocking strip installed around the entire perimeter of a Lifestyle roof.

The metal roofing shingles cost about twice as much as regular shingles, but last much longer than the 12 to 14 year lifespan of many conventional shingles. Over the lifetime of a metal roof, the waste reduction is significant. Also, you don’t need to pay to dispose of your old asphalt shingles, the new steel shingles are installed over top. This environmentally-friendly construction method can add up to a third layer to an existing roof system. Since Lifestyle metal roofs come with a 50-year transferable lifetime warranty, your roof is covered, even if you sell your home.

Front and Centre

Making A Grand Entrance

When photographing the Rapin’s home, the first order of business was to be invited to relax in their front sunroom space. The Rapins’ beautiful sunroom was photographed as part of Lifestyle Home Products’ 150th Great Canadian Sunroom Celebration. Below, Eckhart and Doris Rapin hold up Canada pillows.

When Doris and Eckhart Rapin thought about a social place to enjoy a cup of coffee, they envisioned sitting at the front of their property. The couple already had a sunroom enclosure on the back of their spacious home. However, their sunroom entry would create a new, welcoming space for visitors and friends.

“Situating a sunroom at the front creates a wonderful welcome to your home,” says Doris. Their new sunroom serves as a kind of elegant front porch protected from the elements at all times of the year. The Rapins are happy to invite friends or neighbours to step into their favorite room at any time of the day. “It’s so easy to sit here because it’s at the front of the house,” says Eckhart. Doris adds, “People like to use it as much as we do. It’s a wonderful place to enjoy a cup of coffee, have a glass of wine, or enjoy a conversation.”

Features of the Lifestyle sunroom include high performance Low E glass to reduce the sun’s heat gain in summer months and increase the R-value in winter months. The insulation value is suited for harsh Canadian climates. Lifestyle’s walls of glass create optimum panoramic views versus a conventional stick built renovation with spans of wall and smaller windows.

Doris and Eckhart saw Lifestyle Home Products at the National Home Show in Toronto. They were pleased to find that Canada’s leading sunroom manufacturer was based in Peterborough. “It was important to us that Lifestyle was based in the area with all parts Canadian-made in Peterborough. We like supporting the local economy.” She adds, “From start to finish it was a great process. We absolutely love our new sunroom by Lifestyle.”

The Great Canadian Sunroom

Thumbs Up on True Quality

It all started with a Canada Day party. In the spirit of that theme, Elaine Hogan selected Canada flag pillows for their newly-built Lifestyle sunroom. That inspired Lifestyle Home Products, Canada’s leading sunroom manufacturer, to photograph the Hogans’ sunroom in honour of Canada’s sesquicentennial.

Dave and Elaine Hogan had Lifestyle Home Products create and install a custom-built sunroom that would complement their ranch style bungalow’s rural-facing backyard. Dave, a retired Toronto police officer, wanted a room that would take the place of a cottage setting close to nature.

When the couple hosted their Canada Day party last year, the sunroom became a focal point. It started to rain, and the sunroom offered welcome space directly off the back deck for many of their 30 guests.

According to Keith Carroll, co-owner of Lifestyle Home Products, there are many aspects that are truly Canadian about a Lifestyle sunroom. “All of our sunrooms are 100% Canadian-made in Peterborough,” says Keith. “We don’t use any offshore parts.”

Due to the use of high performance, Low-E glass and the company’s manufacturing and installation process, Lifestyle sunrooms offer optimum efficiency for the Canadian climate. A Lifestyle Grand Oasis Sunroom Addition opens up a wall to add a comfortable year-round indoor/outdoor room, while Lifestyle’s Oasis Plus Sunroom is a separate room that can be heated efficiently and enjoyed year-round.

“The Oasis Sunroom we created for Dave and Elaine is a three-season sunroom for spring, summer and fall,” says Keith. “It’s a great space that brings the outdoors in, lengthens our seasons, and provides fresh air that’s free of mosquitoes and bugs.”

The Hogans’ Lifestyle sunroom is the ideal place to sit and enjoy coffee or read. Dave has also installed a TV. “This sunroom is definitely the space we use most in the house,” Dave says. “Without a doubt, it has become our favourite room.”
